Another ransomware attack could mean life online gets scarier (surely nothing to do BO, one hopes); the latest seems to be about causing chaos rather than extorting money: that said, causing chaos means sites that are down can't make money! Our Independence Day...we will certainly not be alone in the world; in fact a majority believe we won't be alone in leaving the EU! Karen Handel has done an amazing thing: in a race that was overly expensive and received more than usual national attention (mainly because it was seen as a possible sign of a turning of the tide in the popularity of Donald Trump's presidency) she not only beat the Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff by a Brexitesque margin but in doing so became the first Republican woman to be elected to U.S. Congress from Georgia. And she isn't a shrinking violet RINO, oh no: she is against a minimum wage; supports The Donald's decision to leave the Paris Climate Agreement; opposes abortion; opposes same-sex marriage AND same-sex civil partnerships; she opposes gay adoption of children and totally against any amnesty for illegal immigrants. But most of all...she gave us the wonderful faces of the CNN staff (CNN is based in Atlanta for you UK folk who may not know). So funny.

Imagine government by mob, it would be a nightmare. We saw how lefty groups couldn't take the Brexit vote and we saw it with Trump in the USA: these days many 'of the Left' don't seem to understand how democracy works.



Yesterday in London there were more "Deniers of Democracy" in an anti-Theresa May demonstration at Downing Street despite the Conservative Party easily (albeit an unexpected disappointment in terms of seat numbers) winning the election, "Demonstrators chanting with megaphones have been joined by Lily Allen this evening as they refuse to accept the Conservative win".

Only Oldies gets a re-run. 'With age comes wisdom' and looking at that very straight angle from 18-24 year-old group who voted Conservative up to the same line in the 65+ age group gives truth to the old saying: older people generally have far greater knowledge and definitely more experience which usually means they make better decisions, no-doubt-about-it. Look at almost the exact opposite on the Brexit vote. Both images from Lord Ashcroft Polls: on the left the voting by demographic in this weeks UK General Election ("How did this result happen?") and the image on the right the polling data from the Brexit Referendum.



In the General Election "More than half (57%) of those who voted Labour made their decision in the last month, and more than a quarter (26%) in “the last few days". No surprise given the unbelievably poor campaign by the Conservatives and the desperately weak Conservative (in name only!) manifesto. But...how very odd but also interesting - and a little surprising given Jeremy Corbyn promised a better Brexit (UK Independence from the EU) than Theresa May - that the same younger age groups that voted Remain, also voted for Labour. Cognitive dissonance?

It appears that the EMT (Madrid's Municipal Transport Company) is going to incorporate a specific pictogram to prevent 'manspreading' (they explain this as an English term that refers to the posture of men who open their legs excessively). Apparently this is similar to what already exists in other transport systems worldwide; I've not seen it before although now I note that in NY there have been arrests for it more than two years ago, although "the judge expressed her skepticism about the charge because of the time of the arrests: "12:11AM, I can't believe there were many people on the subway"". Back to EMT, Madrid Town Hall's newsletter has the details, all in Spanish. There will be screams from many 'machos' against 'feminists' but in reality this is really just good manners regarding taking up too much space although I do know that there are members of the fairer sex who just think it's guys trying to display their goods or pretend they're well endowed but to be honest, even those with impressive 'wedding tackle' (no doubt that phrase will insult some as well...in fact calling females the 'fairer sex' triggers some!!) should be able to sit perfectly comfortably with their legs shoulder width apart. Rafa de la Rosa explains wonderfully on his Twitter feed (also in Spanish but the images anyone can understand!). When seen in context (image below) along with 'no littering', 'no smoking', 'no feet on seats' etc., you'll see this is nothing to get too upset about.

Good for The Donald! President Trump again keeping promises, again bravely going against the flow and being a responsible leader! Doing what he said he would do [WUWT]. Also giving very good reasons for it. [Speech]. All around the world lefty heads are exploding (bit like the children in the gross propaganda scare tactics) The open-mouthed political elite, lefty luvvies and the usual suspects are in a spittle flecking rage because a large amount of the money they thought was now theirs will be 'ungiven': "President Obama committed $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund – which is about 30 percent of the initial funding – without authorization from Congress". This wealth redistribution scheme would also accomplish almost nothing: "According to researchers at MIT, if all member nations met their obligations, the impact on the climate [...] estimated to be likely to reduce global temperature rise by less than .2 degrees Celsius in 2100." Remember, the 'omnipotent ocracy', these would-be-Gods (in their own minds) thinking they can change the planet. And, food for thought - 'recalling the oneirataxic omphaloskepsis - to feed the ever growing population we must produce more food; to do so our plant breeding advancements and animal nutrition efficiency will only get us so far: Mother Nature needs help to grow things and to do so she will need more CO2 in the atmosphere than we currently have...oops.'
