Obama's obsequious ovines outed...

Such fun to watch lefty pain: a photograph and reports of migrant children sleeping in cages at a detention centre went viral on Sunday leading to lefty outrage at Trump. The fun is now after they mostly deleted those tweets when it became clear it was a photo taken under Obama's administration.

Sudden change of heart obviously. Some (Book Forum Ominivore or HERE as a cached image) even call it "Trump's racist immigration policy"...I would be interested to hear of an immigration policy anywhere in the world that wasn't racist.

They were probably still in a rage over trump blaming the Democrats but even Fact Check, despite showing is wasn't the Democrats (although they are preventing it being changed) can't fully put the blame on Trump, unless they want the children to go to gaol, which of course the luvvies would if it meant getting one over on The Donald. The U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said:

"If you cross this border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you. It's that simple"...If you smuggle illegal aliens across our border, then we will prosecute you. If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law." Because minors cannot be kept in adult gaols.

Or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) top official Thomas D. Homan said "I want to be clear. DHS does not have a blanket policy on separating families as a deterrent,"... "Every law enforcement agency in this country separates parents from children when they're arrested for a crime. There is no new policy. This has always been the policy. Now, you will see more prosecutions because of the attorney general’s commitment to zero tolerance."

Obnoxious ostentation...

Bravo James Bartholomew: now I know what to call it: virtue signalling!

"There was a time when Britain had a form of Christianity in which pride was considered a sin. Maybe that is part of why some of us find all this virtue signalling obnoxious. It’s just showing off. For some of us it is both ridiculous and irritating that people who say that they hate Ukip actually believe they are being more virtuous than others who visit the sick, give money to charity or are kind to someone lonely. But the widespread way in which people now proudly boast suggests there is no shame, no reflection..."

By no means exclusively of the Left, they don't quite have a monopoly, but it is certainly more widespread amongst the liberal-leftie 'do-gooders' who very rarely seem to actually DO any good - "No one actually has to do anything" - preferring to leave it to 'Society' BUT, you know where I'm going with this, don't you? (btw, nearly 28 years ago! Jeez).

Obviously owing...

Well well well. What a surprise...NOT! Labour are hypocrites. The UK's main political parties all filed financial reports this week; "Labour’s total income for 2013 was £33.3m, far ahead of the Tories on £25.4m and the Lib Dems on £7.3m." From the Financial Times [Link ££].

On those vast incomes what tax was paid? Well last year The Conservatives paid 187 thousand quid, guess what Labour paid? £14,000. The Conservatives paid twelve times more tax on income of 25% less! Apparently the Lib Dems paid only £14 tax (yep, fourteen pounds).

Now nobody would begrudge trying to minimise what you pay in tax, as David Blackburn at The Spectator says, we should 'commend Labour for their careful tax planning', HOWEVER, when they do one thing but say another there's only one word for it: HYPOCRITES! There are so many other Labour tax-rise policies, and death won't save you.

Ocando's Orinoco opus...

Posting still light but concerned about the ongoing situation in Venezuela, STILL not getting the coverage it should...if the other end of the political spectrum was doing even a tenth of what Maduro's thugs are doing then there would be wall to wall widespread reporting.

Ocando Casto is an investigative journalist with a career spanning more than 20 years and has covered public corruption, drug trafficking, money laundering, immigration and - last but not least - extensive research on the presence of [edit] 'Chavismo' in the U.S., the focus of his new is book 'Chavistas en el Imperio: Secretos, Tácticas y Escándalos de la Revolución Bolivariana en Estados Unidos' (Chavistas in the Empire: Secrets, Tactics and Scandals of the Bolivarian Revolution in the USA). Hat-tip: The Devil's Excrement. It is really a series of anecdotes and is probably the same as could be said of any corrupt and evil regime over the years but it does highlight - for those unaware - the gross champagne socialist hypocritical thieving scum mentality of what passes for Venezuelan government. Translations will be available.

Our overseers II...

Dick Puddlecote was reminded of politician and of state hypocrisy "after reading Anna Raccoon's article on Starbucks.

Yes, as through this world I wander
I meet lots of funny men; Some’ll rob you with a six-gun, And some with a fountain pen.
Woody Guthrie, 'The Ballad of Pretty Boy Floyd'.

The image (left) pertains to the USA but it does apply here too and it shows how certain definitions change "When Government Does It" (click to enlarge).

Olid offal...

Bill Lockhart comments: "The double-spacing does at least serve to emphasis the utter vacuity of this simpering dross". I have to agree; in a way I don't blame Ed for the speech, these grey suits get their words written for them by other grey suits (and is just as dire in the other parties...the MSM have made politicians think they need to spout this shite). However, even more than the 'simpering dross', the patent hypocrisy shines through.
