Omnipresent overcrowding; oncoming oneirodynia...

A DEMOS study "At Home With One's Past (PDF)" by Sophie Gaston and Sacha Hilhorst is causing ripples today: "Nostalgia as a Cultural and Political Force in Britain, France and Germany". Their research reveals that the three aforementioned countries, despite overt differences, are "bound together by a common affliction"...[whose] citizens are gripped by a kind of malaise, a sense that
something is fundamentally rotten at the heart of their societies
." And guess what? They're not wrong. They go on (in the Executive Summary):

"Moreover, an omnipresent, menacing feeling of decline; that the very best of their culture and communities has been irreversibly lost, that the nation’s best days have passed, and that the very essence of what it means to be French, or German, or British is under threat. While the political consequences of this psychological state are unique to each country, our research demonstrates that many of their antecedents are shared."

Of course they are but that decline and loss has been entirely INTENTIONAL! They and we are all benighted with a political class that not only are intentional fomenting civil dissent of even war but at the same time seem utterly worthless, lacking in wit, stamina, class or statesmanship; to borrow a few choice words from elsewhere: they are dross, spivs, chiselers, quacks,  charlatans. and crooks; the filth of their touch befouls anything good. Anyway, back to the survey which in Britain gave some VERY high numbers when asked about immigration:

71 per cent of Britons believe that immigration has made the
communities where migrants have settled more divided, reaching 78 per
cent in areas that report having experienced large-scale migration in
recent years, and 81 per cent amongst Conservative voters.

Unfortunately the conclusion of the report is simply more politicking: we know that any "robust policy responses" will not be robust at all. And forget the "frank and open debate" and the "compelling, pragmatic vision of hope" please. Debate is already too late, they banned and shunned and penalised debate for 20 years and even opened the floodgates to 'rub our noses in diversity'.

Orinoco overflow...

Looking at the IMF inflation figures and the CPI (the Consumer Price Index measures changes in the price level of  "a typical basket of consumer goods and services" etc purchased by households; the rate of inflation is the rate of change of the average CPI) and the map (left) indicating those levels. Venezuela and a handful of central African nations are "25% or more"; OK doesn't sound too bad does it?  However, there's a few more zeros on Venezuela's, HERE. Gross domestic product per capita is falling like a stone and even HALVED between last year and this.

A good overview of the whole Venezuelan crisis is HERE, although only updated to March this year so nothing about the recent sham elections. "The humanitarian crisis has spilled across Venezuela’s borders, with as many as five hundred thousand fleeing in the past two years. Many have crossed into neighboring Colombia and Brazil, while others have left by boat to the nearby island of Curacao." I can tell you many thousands are also in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador Mexico etc. Several holes in heads needed smartish.

There's also THIS , 'How Chavez and Maduro have impoverished Venezuela', "And it is always the people that suffer most."

The real shame here is not the that it can't be changed but that it will take at least a generation to get over this period. Take out the trash tomorrow and change the whole governing structure including all the higher ranks of all the forces and it would take 50 years to heal the wounds of 'el pueblo': it is deep, the splits and resentments and hate between members of the same families; the scummy thieving armed shits that ruin everyone's' lives; the Cuban poison orchestrating from the shadows, the sin cojones policia, guardia and armed forces that years ago should and could have stopped the rot.

Obama's obsequious ovines outed...

Such fun to watch lefty pain: a photograph and reports of migrant children sleeping in cages at a detention centre went viral on Sunday leading to lefty outrage at Trump. The fun is now after they mostly deleted those tweets when it became clear it was a photo taken under Obama's administration.

Sudden change of heart obviously. Some (Book Forum Ominivore or HERE as a cached image) even call it "Trump's racist immigration policy"...I would be interested to hear of an immigration policy anywhere in the world that wasn't racist.

They were probably still in a rage over trump blaming the Democrats but even Fact Check, despite showing is wasn't the Democrats (although they are preventing it being changed) can't fully put the blame on Trump, unless they want the children to go to gaol, which of course the luvvies would if it meant getting one over on The Donald. The U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said:

"If you cross this border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you. It's that simple"...If you smuggle illegal aliens across our border, then we will prosecute you. If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law." Because minors cannot be kept in adult gaols.

Or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) top official Thomas D. Homan said "I want to be clear. DHS does not have a blanket policy on separating families as a deterrent,"... "Every law enforcement agency in this country separates parents from children when they're arrested for a crime. There is no new policy. This has always been the policy. Now, you will see more prosecutions because of the attorney general’s commitment to zero tolerance."

Off-putting or onomatophobia...

I think just off-putting really, some words just indicate - or at least give the perception of - lack of flavour! Self-explanatory graphic below; I mean 'vegan' means cardboard, right? Just joking! I mean THIS hottie is a vegan but I'm guessing she isn't the average :-)

[Edited: 'dead' image/video removed]

Edited: Chart is HERE (vegan, fat-free, diet etc being the words that the USA finds most unappealing LOL.)

Out of order obvious obstructionism...

Another post straight from Brexit Central, no apologies, the site has been on my main links (above) since the first message they sent out. Sir Bill Cash MP - an actual Conservative unlike some most many of the current party - on the dangerous shenanigans of the 'Wrexiteers': 'Failure to reverse the Wrexiteers’ changes to the EU Withdrawal Bill would undermine trust in democracy itself.' Quoting and lauding Lord Framlingham:

"...without any doubt, these days will go down in history as the House of Lords at its worst"... ...I know that irreparable damage to our reputation has already been done by the antics of these dark days. We have set ourselves up in such a disreputable way, as guardians of wisdom and the common good… simply in an attempt to wreck the Bill and thwart the will of the people, which is both false and dangerous."

Indeed. Well worth a read and follow the links too. Sir Cash ends on a serious note:

"The greatest danger which we now genuinely face is whether those who could now step back from the brink do so or whether they continue on a path which would totally undermine trust in democracy itself. To do so would be fatal."

My emphasis. The unbelievable behaviour of the Lords makes me believe that total reform is inevitable; maybe that was their underhand intention all along. But of course it isn't just the Lords: a couple of ex PMs - the arch vampire's fingerprints no doubt all over much of the current machinations -  many many MPs etc seem to think that working for a foreign power is not only acceptable but preferable, taking their shilling from the UK populace; filling their mouths and pockets, stuffed with gold at the people's expense, whims and personal protection paid for by that populace, yet all the while undermining them.

Outstanding oration VI...

...from Martin Pike (retired Commander of the Royal Navy and a supporter of Veterans for Britain) on Brexit Central: Starmer must account for why he is coordinating with foreign powers opposed to Government policy; it is not just Starmer: there a number of MPs, ex MPs, ex PMs MEPs, Lords and others that should look at themselves and think: would I have been executed as a traitor in other times? The answer of course is YES!

"In the meantime, Sir Keir Starmer and his ilk should consider carefully whether their actions are indeed justified. They should consider what mandate they have to discuss Brexit issues with foreign negotiators and whether they believe in democracy or not. To oppose the Government of the day within the UK is what the opposition is about and is beyond reproach. To coordinate and collude with the foreign powers opposed to Government policy, to pass inside information which potentially damages the UK’s interests and to publicise such actions as somehow honourable is entirely something else."

Nemo unquam sapiens proditori credendum putavit. (No wise man ever thought that a traitor should be trusted).
– Cicero, Orationes In Verrem, II. 1. 15.

Overwhelming oppression offence...

United Nations rapporteur Tendayi Achiume, in her end of mission statement, wants "to conclude with a celebration of the resilience of racial and ethnic minority communities, including those among them who, notwithstanding the overwhelming challenges and oppression they face, continue to fight for racial equality in the UK": I guess we're all bigots and Brexit and austerity have made it worse. "As a start, I recommend the full implementation of the Lammy Review recommendations"...ROFL, ah, the 'lamm-basted' painfully poor review that was rightly ripped a new arsehole recently? Raheem (on Twitter) has it spot on:

Regarding race and tolerance etc I doubt things have changed that much since THIS was published five years back, or the findings of over 85,000 people from 61 countries between 2014 and 2015 HERE. Do UN 'rapporteurs' actually go to really racist countries for their 'missions'? I think we know the answer to that.
