'Out' opportunity over Olympics...

Any ground gained by Ed Miliband recently (some say he has managed to land a punch or two) has - or will be - completely forgotten if he doesn't try to put a stop to, or speak out against, his biggest donor making a massive, MASSIVE mistake: Len McCluskey, the leader of the Unite union (Labour and Miliband's top financier) has said in an interview with the Guardian that "If the Olympics provide us with an opportunity, then that's exactly one that we should be looking at"; what this brain-dead fuck-wit dinosaur means is that to fight the "cuts" (minor scrapings) and the "so deep and ideological" (they are neither) 'attacks on public sector workers'  "employees should consider using strike action to disrupt the Olympics...". If there were a competition for Prize Cunt then Len would surely make the final.

Onkos operation...

[Updated 5pm] Krusty the clown was to be operated on yesterday or today last night ...there's no news yet but his sickness is the worst possible scenario for Chavismo: "Chavez's popularity has risen, the voter's intention has not grown accordingly."

Onkos (ὄγκος) from ancient Greek meaning bulk, mass, or tumor (hence oncology etc).

Obama's Oscar opuscule...

Another Inconvenient Truth: Obama started trying to get re-elected 3 years ago and certainly hasn't done much else this year; now the real grind begins and - very amusingly - it is documentary director Davis Guggenheim who will produce a short film for his campaign (again) ...Guggenheim is 'the man Obama hired was the director behind Al Gore’s fairytale, “An Inconvenient Truth.”'. Story from Bloomberg via Politico and Weasel Zippers. Click HERE for another inconvenient truth, i.e. how...

"On November 4th, 2008 millions of Americans were shocked that a man of Barack Obama's limited experience, extreme liberal positions and radical political alliances could be elected President of the United States. For many of these Americans, the explanation was rather simple... the news media, completely enamored with Obama, simply refused to do their job."

The news of the world is that the sun always sets but then rises...everyday. Today The Sun on Sunday rises from behind clouds (although "questions continue to be asked about alleged criminality and corruption at other News International titles"). The first edition of The Sun on Sunday rose today: it will be "fearless, outspoken, mischievous and fun" but also with a pledge of trust and "decency". Let's hope so but let's also hope that all the hypocritical shits in the rest of the media stop pretending that Murdoch's press were the only ones with suspect methods of revealing news in 'the public interest'. Some - including one A. Campbell - are clearly underwhelmed with the "subdued" launch front-page, however, the News of The World was by far the biggest selling Sunday national newspaper...any bets the Sun on Sunday won't be before too long?

Oscar outrage...

...but bloody funny. "I am outraged at being banned from the Oscars by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Zionists" says Supreme Leader Shabazz Aladeen (tragic childhood etc): "While I applaud the Academy for taking away my right to free speech, I warn you that if you do not lift your sanctions and give me my tickets back by 12:00 pm on Sunday, you will face unimaginable consequences!"..."Where are the nominations for such classic [Wadiyan] films as 'When Harry kidnapped Sally, 'You've got Mailbomb,' or 'Planet of the Rapes'?" This is spoof but no doubt some - the usual suspects - will be really outraged. According to the scrolling news update at the Republic of Wadiya website the Academy has surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass.

Obstinately oppugnant over ogre...

I see the traitor* Gordon Brown has been making a lot of money (albeit dwarfed by that "earned" by arch-vampire Blair: "The former Prime Minister's secretive business empire declared a £12million turnover, up from £8.5million the year before"): Brown has received 1.4 million since leaving the job he should never have been allowed to take. I make that 66,666 quid a month (an appropriate number for such an evil shit). However, no word of whether this includes the £173,633.35 (click on image) by the British taxpayer**; I suspect it doesn't include it; is he even doing his job as an MP?

* I am not sure whether it is warped Scottish nationalism, hidden Soviet sympathies, gross dumbfuckery or merely blinkered, lefty-twat incompetence but whichever it is he is in my top five (along with Blair) of those responsible for the ruination of the UK.

** Annualised 2010-2011 tax year only, from IPSA.

Oxyopia or oligophrenia...

Jumping ahead a few weeks to March 23rd. An intersting date: in 1919 on March 23rd the original 'Third Way' emerged: Mussolini 'founded' Fascism. In 1933 on 23rd March, in order to 'Remedy the Distress of People and Reich', the (legal) rise of Hitler was "Enabled". And on March 23rd, 2012...the Slog highlights another 'cure': amputate and cauterise: "Were I Greek, Portuguese or Irish, I’d be a worried man this morning." (edit: with update HERE).

Odd obnubilation...

"Independent journalism requires honest and open internal debate free from external pressures. This ruling enables us to continue to do that”...the BBC's statement on how honest and open debate is being stifled by the BBC (re the Beeb's refusal to disclose findings of the 2004 Balen Report under the Freedom of Information Act being upheld). Odd, what could they possibly want to hide?

Ows views on a few things and what's what in the news:

1. Ryanair in trouble again over ads (see image, left), they've been here before so obviously know an effective way to get far more 'advertising' for their money.

2. The Falklands are British but at a push they are more French than Argentine so FUCK OFF Sean Penn (he of closeness to Hugo and Fidel) you midget lefty twat.[DT]

3. The 'planned' war with Iran is "on course" even down to the cliché of discovered passports on arrested bombers [NYT].

4. The various chapters of the Greek tragedy (a comedy of errors?) continue but has taken a very EU fascist turn: "In the hours before the vote, the cabinet lost six ministers; 40 dissenting MPs were stripped of their party membership and so excluded from re-election. As part of the deal, there will be new elections in two months' time." WTF? [Independent]

5. I will have my eyes closed as Arsenal enter their most important couple of weeks of the season: Champions League is back and Arsenal visit Milan in last 16 of Champions League then FA cup vs. Sunderland where we scrapped a win in the league last weekend and then near-neighbours and arch rivals Spuds in the league hoping to cement the finger-nail grip on 4th place. My eternal optimism is under great pressure as a re-run of the last few seasons looks imminent (mind you, the first week of September I bet on a top 4 finish, I doubt many did).

Obviously overstated?...

[edited] The image (left - removed, dead link) is the latest global surface temperature record (updated Dec/2011): see WUWT for details; the green area in the image (click to enlarge) is the the range predicted in the IPCC's 2007 Global Climate Model..."The original published temperature record is in red, while the updated version is in blue. The black curve is the proposed harmonic component plus the proposed corrected anthropogenic warming trend. The figure shows in yellow the harmonic component alone made of the four cycles, which may be interpreted as a lower boundary limit for the natural variability. The green area represents the range of the IPCC 2007 GCM projections.".

It is 'just another model' and as the author notes, only time will tell; I have added the widget to Owsblog sidebar so in a few decades we can see (!!!). hat-tip Cassandra at B-BBC.

Oncoming Owl oikonomia...

These Owls, but their 'oncoming' has been offset once more.  "If someone is insolvent, you should not lend him more money. That's an old truth, but a sound one.". Andrew Lilico in the DT sets out the worrying resolution to the Greek situation (I am in Athens and the place has been crawling with armed police for the last few days, demonstrations and strikes par for the course.) Greece is insolvent and has been for a while;

"If you have borrowed more than you can repay from the bank, but – instead of trying to make terms with the bank – you keep yourself going for a short time with payday loans at interest rates of 1000 per cent, your bank will be displeased"...

Oikonomia is Greek for economy or 'household management' or economy, from Oikos "house, habitation".

Osteo option...

Well, milk is good for your boner bones. Click image to enlarge...you should; you know you should. It is called 'cleopatre bain au lait' and is in fact the online ad at the Euro Parliament for Melody Fortuna (I am currently conversing with a Melody from California, I kid you not). Melody Fortuna is the esthéticienne (beautician) at POK Europarl (or presumably 'POKE' for short!); you can also get massages or physio, osteo and kinesiology work.

Melody started her 'paramedic' service at the sports center last Thursday, the poke team was pleased to announce...and "a drink will be offered that day so you can become better acquainted with her."...I'm still not kidding. Hat-tip England Expects.

Outing "Obama's" omissisons...

A look through a variety of online news media this morning (BBC, DT, Washington Post, Business Week, Fox, Reuters etc.) show an uncanny similarity in the reports of the US job figures: "Unemployment rate falls to 8.3%, to lowest level for three years"; these are the official figures so they are jumped on for news; most add comments to the effect that this is nothing but good for Obama and of course re-election. What none of them say, but maybe they will later today when they bother to check (check the 11 or so comments under this DT article for instance) is that the good figures are on the back of "the largest absolute jump in 'Persons Not In Labor Force' on record...and biggest percentage jump in 30 years."; an unprecedented 1.2 million people dropped out of the US work force in one month! [Zero Hedge].

Ominous obrogation...

Just to highlight how sinister the EU and UK laws have become we now have Krusty the cancerous clown following suit! Laws designed in all innocence (ahem!) to counter money laundering, organized crime and terrorist financing they are so vague and open as put everyone under suspicion. In this case MUD couldn't prevent the muddying of the waters. [typos edited Friday p.m.]

Original obituary...

[Edited - 'dead' image removed] Only one Original remained: Jimmy Storie, aged 92, and he sadly died last month; I wasn't aware until today. He was the last surviving member of "The Originals", a handful of men who in WW2 in North Africa became 'L' Detachment, the unit that would develop into the Special Air Service Regiment. And to quote Lord Ashcroft "...what a remarkable life he enjoyed especially as – given the incredibly dangerous nature of his missions – the odds were firmly stacked against him ever seeing his 30th birthday, let alone birthdays into his 90s."

"I agree to carry out arduous duties with no recognition, no rewards, no promotions, and no medals"
