Observations and observances...

Candlemas Marmota monax Twos Day not Twosday

Well, what a month so far...a new moon in Aquarius (not quite dawning of the age...) and the Year of the Tiger starting; always been good for me. And today, well, Candlemas (snowdrops), Groundhog Day and the tutu...so it's said: well, today is obviously the first of a few palindrome dates this month: 2/2/22, Twos Day, not to be confused with Twosday (22/2/22..which is a Tuesday!). Love it.

btw, click on the images for info.

Oblectation over opinion of one oldie's obnoxious obstreperousness...

...one of two things ruling the internet this weekend, and it isn't Truck Fudeau. No, as you can tell by the blog-post title (you couldn't?) it's the Neil Young/Spotify/Joe Rogan thing. Surfing away I landed at Riggery Pokery and enjoyed the succinct turn of phrase on the arrogance of certainty; nothing like a good rant; indeed I enjoyed the frisson but no skin orgasm...but I did laugh a lot.
I don’t particularly want to single out Neil Young here, he’s far from being the only one - but he has rather raised his wrinkly buggeration of a visage above the parapet. He is representative of a very worrying trend that has emerged. Where has this rising trend of fascist fuckwittery come from?
"Who the holy fuck is Neil Young to determine what I can, and cannot, listen to?
Arrogant shite."

"You supercilious wanker."

There's a lot more. :-)

Also a shout out too to Sophia in the comments: "In other news, my husband thought up with a new cologne yesterday that I think many of us would like to get our hands on. It's called "'Leave Me the Fu' Cologne."

Update 30th Jan: LOL, "Just when you thought Neil Young’s ill-conceived boycott of Spotify over Joe Rogan was fizzling out, Prince Harry and Meghan step in to keep it fizzling a little longer..." [The Daily Skeptic].

And more good reading on the generational aspect of the Young/Rogan spat and Covid HERE: The Needle and the Damage Done from Christopher Roach: "Far from being a cesspool of disinformation, the mainstream media are slowly catching up with the skeptics." [sic]

Opening offers...

The Daily Sceptic tells us BOB is now expanding into merchandise: "Responding to huge public demand, the celebrated artist Bob Moran is launching a range of exclusive merchandise featuring his legendary paintings. During a very dark period for humanity, Bob has been seeking to create powerful imagery which stands strong in the face of a global storm."

Bob says: "I am thrilled to finally be able to offer the opportunity to buy clothing featuring my artwork. Over the past 18 months, I have received countless requests for clothing from those on the side of freedom and decency." [Link to Bob's gallery]
It is my firm belief that we can only rescue society from this dystopian, authoritarian nightmare by getting the right messages to as many people as possible.
"I hope that these garments will be worn all over the world as a statement of defiance, a declaration of solidarity and a form of counter-propaganda. They are all well made, ethically sourced and carry high quality reproductions of my images."

[LINK to store] Just ordered my 'MSM bullshit' T shirt.

Official observance...

...of Octoraro Orphie? Or is it Phil? Anyhoo, today is Groundhog Day: "The first reported news of a Groundhog Day observance was arguably made by the Punxsutawney Spirit newspaper of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, in 1886"...not that we in the UK celebrate it, but we know about it. The only real reason I'm posting about it is the cartoon below, LOL.

Although I also notice the date and time and feel oddly excited. Plus today is the 33rd day in this, a Leap year, with 333 days to go...

Update 3 a.m.: Talking of The Donald, I thought this was interesting from The Last Refuge (CTH); I wonder whether the US media will ignore - much the same way as UK media have studiously ignored any good news re Brexit - the State of The Union address as they have done previously for Trump. The SOTU is on Tuesday: the 1111th day of the Donald's administration. The numbers again.

Ocular opening; oscillating opinions...

Happy New Year. 2020...a leap year. I awoke with a 20/20 vision* of a wonderful year where the UK will leap ahead...as expected. Hopefully a belated return to the sensible Right and back away from the turgid lefty 'backward progressive' direction we have been heading for 20 years. Just a bit of fun but the two images are from  January 2010, when Gordon Brown (Brownstuff) was still Prime Minister (seems a decade ago!...oh) and the whole of the UK was white with snow and beset by blizzards.

Image from Wikipedia: "The cold weather was caused by high pressure over Greenland and Iceland forcing weather patterns southward, a phenomenon described by meteorologists as the Arctic Oscillation and also the North Atlantic Oscillation which were negative compared to normal."

* it was a vision..could mean shit! LOL.

Outstanding observation...

Funny from almost three weeks ago. Thanks and hat-tip to Craig at Is the BBC biased? Haggard Hawks' eagle eye spotted 'The Houses of Parliament' is an anagram of 'loonies far up the Thames'. [LINK]

Anagrams of another building in the news: one dreamt, omen rated, tread on me, doner meat, men orated, monde tear... :-(

Original omniana...

Another 'image' post (you'll need to click on it and enlarge even more to read it properly...or maybe it's just my aging eyes!). Thought this could be improved but funny nonetheless. Not sure of source; found it a week or more ago on the now sadly completely diminished comment section of order order.

Obstrobogulous obtenebration...

What a great image and yes, it is a joke. Really funny, hilarious even...however you can tell it hurts the leftie luvvies; the smarty-pants replies on Jerry Travone's Twitter feed are quite good, some actually funny and clever: but you can tell they didn't like it; take Ed Krassenstein‏ for instance ('the lady doth protest too much, methinks'); oh he's hurting, which makes it even funnier.

Oops...

So funny. The bad news is that the mainstream media just can't stop their bias leftie shit: apparently on some BBC news reports they said "Previous winners include Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, and Vladimir Putin."...of course they said the same when Obama won, right?....right?
