Our overall OUT oblectation II...

"In voting to Leave, they voted for hope." [LINK]. Gisela Stuart, former Labour MP and Vote Leave Chair Gisela Stuart, her article at Brexit Central.

"Three years ago today we voted for Brexit – now it’s time to deliver and unite behind a common purpose of renewal"

In fact that was some people's message three and more years ago. We have lost untold progress through the unnecessary and sometimes ridiculously contrived delays of dithering politicians, pessimisitic politicians, self-centred politicians, weak politicians, some evil politicians and some treasonous (some all six!).

"This result had not been easy, we had been up against the EU, the Labour Party, the Conservative Party and Lib Dems and had the full weight of the Treasury and the CBI against us. Yet a majority had voted to Leave the EU"

Much more than that: nearly all the media both TV and radio. Most slebs, most economists, all the EU, most foreign leaders outside the EU, most charity bods, most university boffins, banks, most industry etc...the list of the juggernaut against Leave was immense, the blatant lies, the over funding of the Remain campaign, the use of the murder of Jo Cox...anything and everything was thrown against Leave. Plus the natural bias in favour of the status quo in most choices and the fact that anyone under 40 had never lived under any other regime, all this and yet...and yet...we STILL voted LEAVE. Immense. Glorious.

"In voting to Leave, they voted for hope." Indeed but most had based that hope on solid facts, bad experiences of the EU, clear indications of the future decline of the external influence of the EU coupled with the very sinister explosion of internal control of the EU.

Oval onomatomania over onomatophobia...

I am getting the irresistible urge to repeat certain words; Crusaders, Crusaders CRUSADERS. This is because of recent perceived fear of certain words...maybe. Super Rugby's Crusaders are by far and away - on present form - the best club in the world*. HOWEVER, "The Canterbury Crusaders are to lose their knight and sword logo following a review into the club's branding after the Christchurch mosque attacks in March". Now, apparently, the head of New Zealand Rugby Steve Tew said: "Even prior to 15 March, the Crusaders had signalled their intention to complete a brand review. While the events of 15 March have accelerated and escalated that brand review, we do not want this to be solely a response to that tragic event." Also,

"Any change must not be seen as a knee-jerk reaction to a single event."...OK; trouble is it sounds exactly like a knee-jerk reaction to a single event.

I don't know about you but when I see the logo I do not think of medieval European knights chopping up Muslims, no really, I don't. When the Canterbury kiwis originally chose the 'Crusaders' name it was based on the English nature of the city of Christchurch: [LINK: What's in a name (archived page)] "They believed the name Crusaders not only connected with Christchurch's British heritage but it defined the crusading spirit of Canterbury rugby." They have a theme song too: the "Conquest of Paradise" (Vangelis). My God, the Maori's won't like that will they? Their paradise was afterall conquested. And Canterbury in England means "stronghold of the Kentish men"! No! They'll have to change the city name too I guess, all that stronghold stuff could make people think of fighting and killing.

Now, juxtapose this rugby story with another rugby story: 'Israel Folau launches legal action over rugby sacking' [LINK] "No Australian of any faith should be fired for practising their religion," Folau said. Does anyone think, even for a nano-second, that if he were a Muslim and said the exact same words, i.e. that God's plan for gay people was “HELL…Unless they repent of their sins and turn to God”, he would be sacked...anyone?

* In England the Exeter Chiefs and Saracens will have to watch out...actually, no, Saracens won't, will they? I mean God forbid some may recall it as a term [Wiki] not just for for Muslim or Arab but with
connotations: on a military mission, or sāriq, pl. sariqīn: "thief, marauder, plunderer"!

Overall optimism...

Despite the disappointing (but very positive!) result in Peterborough The Brexit Party has every reason to be cheerful. The whole might of Labour's electoral juggernaut was brought to bear and they only squeaked the win by fewer than 700 votes. The good news is that "The Brexit Party takes the lead for the first time in our latest YouGov/Times Westminster voting intention survey, on 26% of the vote." Now that the pollsters are actually listing TBP as one of the choices, that choice is being made. The Lib Dem blip last week is history...I hope.

TBP say in a communication to supporters: "Our party is just eight weeks old. We had only two weeks to campaign after our tremendous victory in the European elections. Yet we came within 683 votes of unseating the Labour Party and we beat the Tories into third."

"Peterborough was 201st on the Brexit Party’s list of potentially winnable Westminster seats. If we can come so close there, then no Labour or Tory seat is safe any longer."

Maybe I shouldn't mix two subjects but there is a lot of background noise that the 'block postal vote' won it for Labour;  certainly wouldn't be the first time for Labour, nor in Peterborough! Last year they became part of a scheme ("Peterborough is one of eight areas in England to take part in a Voter Pilot scheme to help combat electoral fraud") [edit: ** see update below] "which aims to reduce the risk of election fraud and ensure voters have confidence in the electoral system." I wonder what they found. Apparently yesterday about 20% of the cast votes were actually postal votes...about 6000 votes. Last nights pictures of a certain ethnicity celebrating was food for thought: relevant old post about overwhelmingly one ethnicity (and ususally one community!) being involved? From that post:

“Postal voting on demand is inherently unsatisfactory. The whole system is open to abuse. Secret ballots were introduced in 1872 to stop exactly this sort of problem and we now seem to be going back to the 19th century.”

This by Michael Pinto-Duschinsky, an academic expert on elections: worth a read Electoral Omission, and in full HERE in PDF, the "dramatic decline in the quality of the electoral registers between 2006 and 2014"; voting fraud is rife and The Electoral Commission is "still a flawed institution"...we know from recent shenanigans it still is, probably worse.

**[Update 20:30] Talking of probably worse, thanks to anon who posted THIS LINK: it appears that "A scheme to stop voter fraud in Peterborough has been stopped because of city MP Fiona Onasanya’s conviction and sentence."... ..".A spokesperson for Peterborough City Council said: "We have spoken to the Cabinet Office about our pilot and it has been agreed that, for this year, we will not do a pilot as other election/democratic processes may have to be undertaken due to the conviction of our MP.”"

WTF?!! This really stinks: an election shouldn't be an excuse to stop the postal vote [fraud] pilot; it is the PERFECT time to test the scheme!

Obloquy of obedientiary objicients II...

I seriosuly doubted the authenticity of this leaflet; I was convinced the UK Armed Forces couldn't have fallen so far. How wrong I was [DM link] "A guide to help high-ranking British officers spot right-wing extremists in their ranks has been leaked"... ...The document, which an MoD spokesperson confirmed to MailOnline". FFS.

More than half those 'indicators & warnings' are ridiculous (my comments in last week's post on this)
