OK, I know I like to use obscure words in my blogpost titles but I can tell you that I made that one up. Having just been led by BBC R5L MB poster alan gee commenting on a thread re child poverty to THIS website where you WILL find out that you're much richer than you think: in fact I'm willing to bet you're all in the top 1 or 2 percent: try it yourself...
I'm a bit behind you, Span, at 56,996,229. Mrs Shy Talk is almost 15 million places better off than me.
ResponderEliminarStaggering isn't it. The global thing, I mean, not Mrs Shy Talk. She's not staggering, just a Pharmacist. I think most people know about poverty in the world but it's hard to get a handle on just how many people live in it.
P.S. Just been messing with that site and, to get "YOU" in the middle (49.97%, I think it was) you have to earn a mere £462 per annum.
ResponderEliminarF*ck me! I hope my employer doesn't see this site. There'll be some hellish pay cuts if they do. I can see it now... ... "What do you mean massive pay cut? You're still in the top 50% in the world!
A pharmacist..i'm sure sheknows several leagl ways to get you staggering!
ResponderEliminarThey need to sort out the exchange on the site, I did it for pounds and euros and there was a massive difference (not in line with the current exchange)...but whatever...if we're talking about savings then the 462 is nearer mine!
It does bring it into persepctive a bit. Many peopel have no home, no shelter, no guaranteed food or water, no toilet etc; also in certain countries people live on a dollar a day or less ($365/annum) so I guess the GBP462 could easily be believable.
