Letwin and Cooper are both MPs for LEAVE constituencies; Yvette Cooper's constituency voted 70% (yes, seventy) to LEAVE the E.U., Oliver Letwin's (West Dorset) voted by 51% to LEAVE and is in fact is the middle of a sea of LEAVE voting constituencies yet it is their amendment that will cause another delay in Brexit. You may think 51% is close but the vote last night was 50.08% and was immediately passed by a single vote. Letwin can except 50.08% but not 52? Cunt. Also, ugly party politics is destroying Brexit; look how clear the party political divide is:

At the risk of appearing flippant, you'll note where most of the 'shit-hole countries' are...even a darker dot on the western end of one of the Caribbean islands...[thinks]

Certainly Shit Creek but with a paddle at least, and most certainly (to quote Boris, always one for a good phrase) "the quintessence of turd polishing pointlessness" [edit] i.e. opposing Jean-Claude Juncker as the next president of the European commission was a complete waste of time; Boris also said it is like "trying to swat a fly on the leg of the rhino that is standing on your chest" LOL.

The Prime Ministers of The UK, Sweden and the Netherlands (David Cameron, Fredrik Reinfelt and Mark Rutte respectively) with German Chancellor Angela Merkel: interestingly these countries have nearly always been the highest per capita net contributors (no disrespect to Austria previously and to Denmark and Finland now and other net contributors as things are more 'balanced' these days.

My failure to know what's good for me had me watching the news again yesterday, only to start - within 30 seconds - shouting at the TV. As Cranmer so aptly puts it of Obama's Berlin speech: "Ich bin eine Katastrophe". Obama has form though (Jan, Feb); the more people say what a good speaker he is the more I cannot stand what he says or how he says it. Previously I've called it cringe-worthy pap and banal piffle, convinced his speech-writers are taking the piss; Nile Gardiner calls it "pure mush, another clichéd “citizens of the world” polemic with little substance." Most of the German press weren't much more impressed (scroll down to "German commentators on Thursday, however, seemed largely immune to the charm offensive".

Or not as the case may be. I mentioned last month in Obamaworship about the "load of banal piffle" that Obama was reading out; and "the winning entry from a primary school competition about who can write the most cringe-worthy pap about pink fluffy clouds and jam for everybody" however he hasn't improved much and it appears that in yesterday's State of the Union address

"President Obama's chief speechwriter has been replaced by a cliché-generator circa 1960. His erstwhile oratory was a melee of cringe-inducing lines ripped straight from a sit-in."

Or, to put it another way: giving people a proper place to shit...and it's no joke although I challenge you to think that today is World Toilet Day without a smile crossing your lips (or imagination) but it's a noble cause. A new book by Rose George, The Big Necessity , tells it how it is and there are parts that are not nice. How many people in the world? Six billionish; how many people without sanitation? Well the answer is more than 2 and a half billion (2.6 BILLION)!!! Although things are improving. An excerpt from Rose's book:

"He thought that I thought a toilet was my right, when he knew it was a privilege...It must be, when 2.6 billion people don't have sanitation. I don't mean that they have no toilet in their house and must use a public one with queues and fees. Or that they have an outhouse or a rickety shack that empties into a filthy drain or pigsty. All that counts as sanitation, though not a safe variety. The people who have those are the fortunate ones. But four in ten people have no access to any latrine, toilet, bucket, or box. Nothing. Instead, they defecate by train tracks and in forests. They do it in plastic bags and fling them through the air in narrow slum alleyways. If they are women, they get up at 4 a.m. to be able to do their business under cover of darkness for reasons of modesty, risking rape and snakebites. Four in ten people live in situations in which they are surrounded by human excrement, because it is in the bushes outside the village or in their city yards, left by children outside the back door. It is tramped back in on their feet, carried on fingers onto clothes and into food and drinking water."
