Obama's obvallate OFA 'outrage' operations...

Much as New Labour in the UK had a 'stay-behind' army of civil servants and quangocrats sticking spokes in the government wheels and still working for their UK-destroying agenda, so too in the US the Trump administration [link and quote added 13/02] will be fighting an internal war (and worse) for at least a year.

"Former Democratic senator and 2016 presidential candidate Jim Webb said there is a campaign among D.C. insiders and in the media to 'personally discredit' President Trump and the people around him."

On top of that - as Paul Sperry writes - there is a veritable army of agitators in multiple protest groups [Link NYP] - a "network of leftist nonprofits led by Organizing for Action" run by various ex aides and staffers: "Obama will be overseeing it all from a shadow White House located within two miles of Trump. It features a mansion, which he’s fortifying with construction of a tall brick perimeter..."

This is a good follow on from Sperry's 2015 article about Obama bankrolling of constant protest. His presidency was "pockmarked by rioting, looting and protests. That's no coincidence. It's what the former community organizer sought from Day One." He "has encouraged the nonstop civil unrest exhausting the nation."...He "egged on both BLM and OWS [no relation!] protesters."

"Chronic social irritation can do lasting damage to the fabric of a nation. By falsely accusing people of racism...or sexism...or homophobia...or Islamophobia — or whatever other 'ism' or phobia they come up with next — these agitators are creating angst and hatred in people's hearts that wasn't there previously."

It reminded me of Obama's offspring II... ("…When there is a lack of honor in government, the morals of the whole people are poisoned") with his blatant stirring of racial tension.

Odd Ows opposing oppositions...

When is one 'revolting public' not the same as another? In every case I expect but two situations in the current news cause contrary and entirely different reactions in me: in burning Ukraine I am concerned that - once again - the whole story isn't being told - Raedwald says it better: "Wicked, cruel and corrupt President outed by righteous populace and beautiful princess rescued from prison; democracy reigns, prosperity arrives, the Sun shines and all the people are happy runs the myth. The truth is rather more grey, much murkier and full of those inconvenient moral dichotomies that intrude into real life." And, concurring again "And contrary to expectations, it's the Mail that carries the most prominent narrative counter to the fairy-tale being told by the BBC" about the 'political earthquake': Ukraine and especially Crimea is so much more than just an area between Russia and the West (NATO/EU/US).

And as Europe and most of the world watches Ukraine, in Venezuela the situation takes a similar road for very different reasons. There are similarities: the burning scenes, the street protests, the deaths, the useless Insulza (and OAS) playing the part of the useless Ashton (and EU) but in Venezuela there is almost a communication hegemony, rampant crime, 'war-zone' murder rates, near zero Accountable Government and Delivery of Justice [PDF, 1 page], longer and bigger blackouts, queues for food staples, record bond yields (telling the tale and belying Krusty Lite's ridiculous blaming of anyone and everyone for propaganda and sabotage) and the ever-powerful local armed militias - now as ominous and obvious as they were then -to name a few of the major differences. The image from some of yesterday's demonstrations:  El pueblo se mueve...

In Venezuela the case is clear for a people's uprising, in Ukraine it is not...IMHO.

Update: interesting debate on HuffPost Live (in English), originally aired the night before the 22nd Feb protests (image); Ahmed Shihab-Eldin does a good job as mediator!

Obvious objurgation...

LOL! Guido reports on how the 'rare Midas touch' of Crash Gordon mentioned on Tuesday lasted very little time indeed - no surprise. There will be no 'tranquillity': "Europe and Spain will continue down this autopista of economic tears until they are both willing to make the tough sacrifices that come with establishing a more coherent political and economic union." [Link]

Talking about tranquil Spain (NOT!) "When things go wrong, they really go wrong. Cuidado, Querida España", [Link] Ambrose Evans-Pritchard in the Telegraph, hat-tip Raedwald; while your there Raedwald has had several interesting things to say about Spain recently.
