One overtly outstanding...

Follow this link to a MENSA test I found online; there is something a bit fake (IMHO) because it says that a score of 19+ out of 33 is genius level and I think 19 is very easy to attain, in fact you should all get 25 without too much trouble; it also adds that only 2 MENSA members got full marks. I find this hard to believe because I got 33/33 (full marks), with no help from anyone or books/ Google etc. and I took less than an hour; there's no time limit so it's a bit of fun.

Note: the answers have to be exact and with correct spelling to get 'the green light' - you'll see what I mean; also do not use apostrophes where they would usually go!

Here's some U2 (One) to listen to while you do it: thinking with _music may help. Over 25 years of some great music (and a few real duds!) I can still remember hearing them for the first time 'I Will Follow' about 1980/81.

  1. MAGS!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr!!

The above post was Mags and I can confirm she also got 33/33...this goes to confirm my suspicion... However I deleted it because she put up all the answers (!!!!)thereby ensuring anyone who reads teh comments could get 33!!!

Mags, in your comments (now deleted) you had a correctly placed apostrophe that shouldn't have been in the answer...did you realise that by reading my post or by trial and error?

  2. I didn't read your post Span but clicked the link straight away.

You're a pain in the ass for removing my post. I didn't mean any harm and people would do the test before reading the posts anyway. Grrrrrrrrrrr back!!!!!!!!!

I put the apostrophe in that one answer because it wouldn't turn green without it.

And excuse me, are you saying that just because I got all the answers correct the test is too easy? A slur on my very blemished character.

Huff and double huff. I'm in a right bad mood now Span.

Well done Miss Bonnielass, those were the two that I finished up on...just relax and think of what SA could be...and what "in the HB" could be...then your on 33 like me and Mags...

Hence my post Mags!!!! Yes I actually sent a message via the 'contact' link saying that NO WAY was 19+ genius and that I got 33 without much trouble...but......20 minutes...hey you're my kind of woman...;-)

Re apostrophe...I DIDN'T include it, and that's how I got two (I think...may have been just the last one...Long John Silveresque) but hey I BELIEVE YOU!!!!!

  10. Hello Six...hahaha...yes...you get my point? This is crazy stuff...MENSA must mean something else in 'American'!!!

Don't know re Mags...the answers she posted included an apostrophe that wasn't allwed when I did the test...so she must have typed it all out...blimey!! That's dedication, just to prove she's as smart as me...;-)

  11. P.S. Six...when you say difficult I know you just mean you actually had to think a bit!!!! As per missbonnielass 28 and 31 were the last ones I got.

  12. I don't think these tests are much of an assessment.

I may have mentioned, when I was a kid we spent some time in Australia. They tested all 12 year olds and anyone with an IQ over 135 got a "Junior Government Scholarship". Even I got one.

But it was pants really. It was one of those open ended ones that you're not expected to finish, just do as many as you can in the time allowed and skip any you don't fancy. So I skipped anything with numbers (didn't even read the question) and wallop - Junior Goverment Scholarship awarded.

Great policy though IMO, free school fees for bright kids. All kids compulsorily tested. I like Australians!

The evening may be a bit advanced for even looking at your test now though Span, I wasn't such a big drinker at 12...

  13. Well 31 was easy for obvious reasons in my case. 28 and 26 were the real stickers for me. Oh and 5 took me forever. One of those 'Oh God (literally) I can't believe I didn't get that' moments.

  14. I'm presuming the yankeedoodles would struggle on the 31 Six and also ones like 12 (the TBM one) and 33 (Long John) ...in fact also 30 (SA) etc...ah well, lets see if I get a reply from them...then I can say that we all got 33!!!

    ResponderEliminar
  15. Gavin I think you're right. Also a time limit would have made a big difference (and also the 'pressure' would add to the difficulty)

  16. What's this "One" playing then, Span? It's not your real score is it? Tell the truth you naughty boy... Got up to 24 and then it seemed to be going all a bit Biblical and I got paranoid that it might be a neocon mind control thing... "657 P that S S with the J of an A" was too much for me. ;-)

  18. ROFL Augustus!!

Span, I did mine whilst having my ear chewed off by my 6yo, trying to listen to Mr Mags at the same time talking about something that wills top the rats, sorting out my desk and being a sex goddess. So ner nah ner nah nah:-P

I copied and pasted the answers onto this blog, It was easy but time consuming because they had to be done individually.

Span, will you reinstate my pots now please? You know you want to. You know you do. I am worth it. You know I am am. And I'm smarter than you!

    ResponderEliminar
  19. oh, oh Augustus, I know that one...is it 657 People slap Span with a Joke of an Answer?...I was blindfolded and underwater with my hands tied.

Mags...I'll put it back up later...torture...(can I put it back up?..I don't know...)

Know what you mean re the Biblical stuff but not really brainwashing...

    Bush is God

    Amen.
