Overtly Orwellian overreaction...

Scott Atlas is one of a small group that has been consistantly correct throughout the whole 'COVID era'. America's COVID Response Was Based on Lies [Newsweek]:

"The tragic failure of reckless, unprecedented lockdowns that were contrary to established pandemic science, and the added massive harms of those policies on children, the elderly, and lower-income families, are indisputable and well-documented in numerous[ ]studies. This was the biggest, the most tragic, and the most unethical breakdown of public health leadership in modern history."

And there were far better ways [October 2020]:
"As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection."
Like I wrote back then regarding the scam and casedemic: There is NO doubt about this. We are being lied to. Crimes have been committed.

Back to Scott Atlas: he writes that him nor other heroes trying to change the craziness by providing facts, data and alternative actions should be so naïve as to expect a direct apology from critics at their employers (Stanford University in his case) or from the government and academic public health officials but I think that is exactly what they should expect, and get, very loud and very clear.

This madness must never be allowed to happen again and as the famous truism goes, admitting you have a problem is the first step to fixing it': Acceptance MUST happen to enable recovery. Without acceptance from TPTB and many lower done, there will be no real recovery.

From back then too:

'Octagonal object': overt obfuscation...

"U.S. military brings down flying object over Lake Huron near Canadian border"...[Reuters]

WTF is going on. Nothing then four separate 'UFO's in a week? One not so unidentified was a Chinese balloon; what will this 'octagonal object' be? It doesn't matter: it is just to distract you; take your pick: Ukraine farce, Epstein list, Biden crimes, COVID jab murders, Jan 6th truth...[adding from Clown Basket: the major chemical spill/train derailment in Ohio and US navy bombing Nordstream I...] so many things to not report on...

...oooh, look over there, a squirrel!

Update: UK version of things not to report on: Ukraine farce, Epstein list, net Zero energy hikes, hostile rape-intent fighting-age-only flow of immigration, [soon to become] gang-rape 'groomers', drag/trans/gender mental health issues, COVID jab murders, Sunak digital ID ties/oncoming CBDC, Brexit bretrayal...

Other outbreak oblocutors...

"You know nothing John Snow" is probably what he was told: John Snow, the British physician who 'first determined that cholera spread through contaminated water'; he wasn't sure how but he was right; he also had many naysayers and detractors.[{typo edit} Interestingly the sadly MIA blogger Raedwald mentioned him back in April:

"We must keep exposing the manifold failures of the central Whitehall machine. They are costing lives."

Anyhoo...the reason for John Snow the mention is that The Great Barrington Declaration has a rival: The John Snow Memorandum. A couple of days ago Lockdown Skeptics debunked a lot of it and today they ask "Who are the Real Heirs of John Snow in the Herd Immunity Debate?

"The conventional wisdom at the time – the view held by the scientific establishment – was the miasma theory, which held that diseases such as cholera and bubonic plague were caused by pollution or “bad air”. Instead of relying on this theory, Snow actually did some on-the-ground research, talking to local residents and analysing the pattern of infection. In this way, he was able to trace the source of the outbreak to a water pump in Broad Street and end the epidemic. Snow’s discovery, which came about because he engaged in methodical, empirical research rather than relying on some divorced-from-reality theory, is regarded as the founding event of the science of epidemiology.

For a group of establishment panjandrums to invoke John Snow’s name, given that their entire approach to the pandemic is rooted in abstract mathematical modelling, is almost laughably inappropriate."

That said, he did order the handle of the 'Broad Street Pump' to be removed so as to avoid the residents drinking the water; I suppose that could be construed as an early 'lockdown restriction' couldn't it?

More good stuff  HERE from Robert E. Wright at the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) ['What?' I hear you murmour...no worries, he's a historian].

"In case my fancy words remain unclear, I am saying that the public health officials who do not understand the correct policy response to covid, represented by the Great Barrington Declaration, fail to do so because they have not studied the history of science or even medicine in sufficient detail to understand the scientific method. They are too ignorant to be humble.

Case in point, John Snow himself would have signed the Great Barrington Declaration, not the John Snow Declaration."

Finally, a few choice words from Dr. Atlas Scott [great name!], who when interviewed had some ghastly and wrrying statistics e.g. "[in the USA]...an astonishing 25.5 percent of people between 18 and 24 contemplated suicide in the month of June alone" WTF? Lockdown's a winner...NOT!

"History will record the faces of the public health expertise as some of the most sinful, egregious, epic failures in the history of public policy. They have killed people with their lack of understanding and their lack of caring about not just the impact of cases of COVID-19, a virus that the overwhelming majority of people do well in. They never cared to considered the impact of the policy itself, and the policy itself has been a complete epic failure, and honestly some people say a crime against humanity — these people should be held accountable for what they did."

Winter is Coming.

October opener

Click on image or HERE. "As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection.

It is pure common sense and unfortunately a long way from the government's approach, which becomes more Monty Pythonesque every week.

OMG, outbreak overreaction overtly outed...

Just wow. Lockdown Sceptics have a code review of Professor Neil Ferguson's Model...not good, no wonder he quickly resigned and hid (lucky the affair came along to help bail him out); the comments are good!

Conclusions. All papers based on this code should be retracted immediately. Imperial’s modelling efforts should be reset with a new team that isn’t under Professor Ferguson, and which has a commitment to replicable results with published code from day one.

On a personal level, I’d go further and suggest that all academic epidemiology be defunded. This sort of work is best done by the insurance sector. Insurers employ modellers and data scientists, but also employ managers whose job is to decide whether a model is accurate enough for real world usage and professional software engineers to ensure model software is properly tested, understandable and so on. Academic efforts don’t have these people, and the results speak for themselves.

Hat-tip: WUWT . More good comments.

P.S. Don't bother looking up the author Sue Denim... Sue Denim = Pseu Donym, teehee.

Outbreak overreaction II...

A follow-up to the post last week. As before, graphs from InProportion2. And as I said before, still not breaking any records, considering that since the turn of the century we have 5 million more people in the country.

"For most of 2020 so far, the overall number of people dying has been less than it was in 2018 (a bad year for flu/respiratory disease). The chart below shows that the number of deaths in 2020 has now started to exceed those in 2018 for the same time period - so far by about four per cent.

Much of the media provides a continual stream of sensational headlines about Covid such as "Death tolls soar as ..." or "Worst week since records began for..." but it must be asked if such fear generating approach is justified or helpful."
...

Well, we know the fucking answer to that, don't we? A big fat NO!

Note: Updated 2020-04-28 using the latest data released by the Office for National Statistics and Public Health England, complete to 2020-04-17. Numbers will be lower than those given in daily government press releases as all figures here exclude Scotland and Northern Ireland. They also exclude estimated deaths between 2020-04-17 and the most recently announced. Numbers after 2020-04-17 are from Public Health England

Outbreak overreaction...

So many numbers and figures abound and the hysterics of the press do not help but are we really seeing what the media and government are trying to make us believe we are seeing? Naturally there are many sceptics; we may yet have to eat our words but more and more it is looking like a massive overreaction that our grandchildren's children will still be paying for:

Bear in mind that since 1996 there are FIVE MILLION MORE PEOPLE in the country. Since 1999/2000 4 million more people etc.

"For overall mortality, recent weeks have not been as bad as some previous flu seasons. The week ending 2020-04-10, was a bad week 18,516 people died. However, since 1996 there have been three weeks in previous years which were worse."

Outbreak overtures...

Did you ever notice that the word 'PANDEMIC' is 'PANIC' with 'DEM' in the middle? Anyhooo...

They are largely vilified now for wrong or delayed action and China-protecting messages but they were at least on the right track with this doc (last year's annual report) by the GPMB; the WHO acting as the host organization for the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board, although the publication does claim "This publication contains the collective views of the members of the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board and does not necessarily represent the views and policies of WHO or the World Bank".

Preparing for the worst:a rapidly spreading, lethal respiratory pathogen pandemic: [LINK]

"High-impact respiratory pathogens, such as an especially deadly strain of influenza, pose particular global risks in the modern age. The pathogens are spread via respiratory droplets; they can infect a large number of people very quickly and with today’s transportation infrastructure, move rapidly across multiple geographies. In addition to a greater risk of pandemics from natural pathogens, scientific developments allow for disease-causing microorganisms to be engineered or recreated in laboratories. Should countries, terrorist groups, or scientifically advanced individuals create or obtain and then use biological weapons that have the characteristics of a novel, high-impact respiratory pathogen, the consequences could be as severe as, or even greater, than those of a natural epidemic, as could an accidental release of epidemic-prone microorganisms."

They're definitely way off with their GDP loss predictions (page 14)...

[Edit] Again: did you ever notice that the word 'PANDEMIC' is 'PANIC' with 'DEM' in the middle? "If you want to create a totally false panic about a totally false pandemic – pick a coronavirus." [LINK] "They can not 'confirm' something for which there is no accurate test."

Oxitec outbreak or opinionated offal?...

Until recently probably 99.999% of the population didn't know knew about nor had heard of the Zika virus (first isolated in 1947 in the Zika Forest in Uganda, by scientists researching Yellow Fever [Wiki] ). There seems to be more than one conspiracy theory doing the rounds that the hub of a massive increase of a birth defect in Brazil confirmed to be associated with the virus could have been caused by the release in the same region of GM modified mosquitoes developed by pioneering UK biotech (environmentally friendly insect/ pest/ disease control) company Oxitec. This conspiracy theory has already produced at least one rebuttal but there is nothing theoretical about the new pandemic.

Obsolete ocracy...

(Photo: Michael Thad Carter; final quote below from Forbes last year)

Keep Calm and Carry On...but there's a lot to be worried about: Islamic extremists, no water, hyperinflation, obesity, too much Internet, WW3, Chinese Eugenics, worrying too much, not enough Internet, the Ebola virus disease (EVD...and today a nurse in Spain is said to be the first person in the current outbreak known to have contracted Ebola outside Africa.), it's beginning to seem like the news scene in V for Vendetta when they are trying to divert peoples' attention (sound familiar?). Well, despite all that, now, tried and tested and available (the 3D printers keep selling out) we have the Ghost Gunner a 3D printed gun from Defence Distributed ("You can have an unserialized toothbrush, and you can have an unserialized rifle.") Apparently the people of the USA "want guns without serial numbers. And apparently, they want to make them at home." Cody Wilson’s "goal of enabling anyone to privately fabricate an untraceable gun is part of a larger anarchist mission: To show how technology can render the entire notion of government obsolete." Hat-tip: Goodbye Gun Control, ZeroHedge (Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog).

Our oblectation...

Talk of floods and cold and climate change and energy bills etc is one thing (and certainly a bummer when it affects you personally) but the truth is that the good news far outweighs the bad...FAR outweighs: "It’s a story that no one organisation or government can take credit for – and a story that doesn't particularly suit anyone’s agenda. But the story is there, for those with an eye to see it." Fraser Nelson at The Spectator on "The biggest shocker of 2013? That it really is a wonderful world": deaths from disease, war, extreme weather etc are minuscule compare to previous decades mainly due to money and spreading it about 'via a system known by its detractors as global capitalism'.

Still - pissing on any fireworks that good news may have launched - will this only accelerate us towards our end?

Update: ...and this won't help!
