Ontario's Orangeville Otters outrage...

First things first: a man cannot be a women, ever. Or vice versa. No amount of hormones or operations can do that. This story from December last year but I only read about it today. "A 50-year-old professor has been allowed to identify himself into a swimming league for schoolgirls".
Hat-tip: Dr. Lidiya Angelova's Substack Genuine Prospect
Source: [SP¡KED] from last week.

On immediate reading you'd be forgiven for asking are Swimming Canada and Swim Ontario child abusers? Are they paedophiles? There can be NO other reason they would both think it's okay for an adult man to compete against teenage girls in swimming:  "Swimming Canada and SO believe swimming is for everyone." [Swim Ontario Statement].

FFS! Great, we all think that too but clearly they don't think teenage girls have the right to compete only against other teenage girls.

No doubt you know-who would approve: 'Only one oasis': 'just a waterhole', or juste en trou d'eau in French, which of course is Justin Trudeau (I'll get my coat...).

Overflowing outrageous orders...

Off to a flying start...ominously so. The image left is from a tweet HERE that shows what O'Biden* said only a few months back. The new WH chief of staff, Ron Klain said only 10 days ago that the "new president's planned executive orders would be "a restoration of an appropriate, constitutional role for the President."...seems odd then that in his first week Biden has signed more than DOUBLE those of The Donald, Obama, Bush II and Clinton COMBINED. Think about that for a minute...**

Check the numbers at the Federal Register and or The American Presidency Project [APP EO Link].

Anyhow... the point is that one of those (maybe two actually) sounds innocuous enough [Whitehouse] but could highlight "The End of Women's Sports?" in the USA; the Campaign for Working Families suggests so:
"But the executive order I want to focus on this morning is ironic. All the polling data show that young women voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden. And his response to those young women was to issue an executive order that may well eliminate women's sports as a place for young women to excel."
Joe Biden’s war on women [Spiked]. "On his first day in office, the president signed away women’s sex-based rights." And it will get serious: "One of the first acts of Joe Biden's presidency was to gut sex anti-discrimination laws and eliminate critical protections for women in the federal government" say The Women's Liberation Front WoLF,
"With this action, Biden is bypassing the legislative process to implement the most controversial provisions of the Equality Act"
And [WoLF Tweet] :
"Gender identity is not a fringe issue, it is an ideological hydra that threatens to undermine everything from language to our most basic human rights
Where's the outrage? Where's the march on Washington, the million women pink hat mob (didn't they occupy government buildings?). Here's a guy that - to be as kind as I can - clearly cannot think straight and has in his first week signed off on - as previously mentioned - more than double the last four presidents combined, with more still coming: almost seems the Swamp had it all ready for years and knew they would win the election...oh.

* OK, I won't be using that as an excuse for blog-post titles LOL.
** in their first weeks, not total! Mind you Sleepy Joe has already reached 15% of DJT's total for 4 years!

Overcoming obduracy...

Jane Austen on £10 notes. Photo: Bank of England.

Sense and Sensibility overcomes Pride and Prejudice, said Emma, presumably from Mansfield Park. One Page In A Library of Millions comments that it is good to see 'Google celebrating the birthday of Rosalind Elsie Franklin' and mentions the 'women on banknote' saga; today we learn that the campaign won in the end: "Jane Austen is to appear on the new £10 note. Most people would agree that she is in the top division of English authors, so it’s a shame that, rather than being celebrated as a novelist, she has now been chosen as a woman, rather less of an accomplishment." [The Spectator], my emphasis.

Orgasmic olisbos…

Olisbos or more acturately their predecessors: The history of vibrators! Vivienne Parry's penetrating and arousing article in this weekend's Times Women's Style section (I just happened to notice it…) is hilarious; in fact it's hysterical, literally – you'll see what I mean.

Despite first being 'diagnosed' as 'womb furie', women have always suffered a "complaint characterised by nervousness, fluid retention, insomnia and lack of appetite." The great Hippocrates called it hysteria thinking that the womb was blocked and causing the problem (Greek for womb = hysteros). Galen, a Greek physician way ahead of his time in more ways than one, was on the right track because he claimed it wasn’t any blockage but in fact sexual deprivation among women of a 'passionate nature' or those who weren’t passionate at all, either through choice or not: "nuns, virgins, widows and occasionally in married women whose husbands were not up to the job". Galen said

"Arising from the touch of the genital organs required by the treatment, there follows twitchings accompanied at the same time by pain and pleasure...from that time she is free of all the evil she felt"

The trouble was that doctors regarded this treatment as numbingly tedious...ha-ha, the image in my mind is indeed hysterical – those doctors! Who would have thought it, eh? However not all agreed, maybe due to religion: the Persian polymath Avicenna said

"Women [with hysteria] should not resort to rubbing,”…[this was ]… “a man's job, suitable only for husbands and doctors".

Orgasm by hoseThe image is of an 1860 water treatment - to save the doctors having to do it – and was claimed to 'free the evil' in less than four minutes

Come the 1870s and steam power helped 'The Manipulator' do the business but it was not suitable for the doctor's treatment room and so was a "a niche market poised for exploitation"…what a profession!

The first British vibrator, a battery device, was manufactured in the early 1880s and by the early 20th century electrification made vibrators available in the home. Interestingly they were available a full decade before either the washing machine or vacuum cleaner – getting the priorities right! Keep 'em happy to keep 'em working!

Click HERE for a slide show about the history of vibrators on Slate.com it is interesting - no really!! – some of the contraptions look more suited to a workshop and if you ever found your grandmothers' or great-grandmothers' sewing/knitting magazines it may have been something else altogether they were interested in - easing forehead creases!
